Easy Apple Butter

About This Recipe:

Apple picking is obviously one of my favorite Fall activities, but I am not a huge fan of eating apples as is. So this year, I decided to make apple butter with my apple picking haul. It’s very similar to making applesauce, except much more concentrated and “jammy.” This apple butter is a quick and easy recipe- I saw a ton of other recipes that took 4+ hours or required food mills, but this is an everyday home chef version. My favorite use for this is on toast lathered with ricotta, but you can use it however you normally use jam.

Enjoy!

Ingredients (4 Servings)
-4 apples, peeled and diced
-2 cups water
-2 tbls brown sugar
-2 tbls white sugar
-1 tbl lemon juice
-1 tbl apple cider vinegar
-1 tsp cinnamon
-1/2 tsp nutmeg

Instructions (45 mins)
1. In a large nonstick pot over high heat, add in all of the ingredients. Bring the mixture to a boil and then continue cooking on medium heat for 20-30 minutes until all of the liquid has evaporated, and a deep brown color develops. Stir frequently, and keep and a close eye towards the end to avoid burning.
